Rut Blees Luxemburg's photographic work deals with the representation of the city and urban phenomenon, ranging from large-scale photographs to public art installations and opera productions. Her permanent public art work "Silver Forest", a monumental photographic urban forest cast in concrete, can be seen on the façade of Westminster City Hall in London.
Rut Blees Luxemburg has exhibited extensively in the UK and Europe, including the 2003 solo exhibition "Phantom" at Tate Liverpool, a photographic exploration of the imprint of modernity on the architecture of Dakar, Senegal. Her series "London Dust" was presented at the Museum of London in 2015.
Rut Blees Luxemburg created the iconic cover for "The Streets" album "Original Pirate Material" and is a lecturer in urban aesthetics at the Royal College of Art.
Rut Blees Luxemburg's work is held in major public and private collections including the Tate, Centre Pompidou, Paris and the V&A Museum, London.
