WAFA AOUN is interested in the movement of matter on the body that she concretizes through clothing. In her approach, she tends to purify the garment to keep only the geometric structure by limiting the seams. She gives a major importance to the ways of making, the process of construction as well as the techniques and ways of putting on a garment. Her hanging pieces appear as abstract forms that she conceives as an itinerary. She has been in residence at the Villa Belleville since May 2015 to develop her Unfolded Pieces project, a series of one-piece garments that fold, roll or cross over the body. Clothes that are made up of a formal number of gestures to be worn and have the purpose of revealing their own construction.
